I’m learning Japanese and came across this sentence: 日本にすんでいます
This made me think: if we take out the に character, will it considerably affect the phrase/sentence?
I tried using Google translate and it did show slightly different meanings, so I wanted to know if the effect of taking the に character out, where it is used independently(as in, not part of any other word), would be the same in different sentences
