Should I exchange currency at home country or on vacation?

I deciding whether or not to exchange my Canadian money to Yen in Canada or Japan.

I’ve heard that I would get a better exchange rate if I go to Japan but I don’t exactly know where I’d do that.

Any suggestions on currency exchange stores in mainly Tokyo or Osaka, and Kyoto
