  1. They do realise this will never go away, right? Hospitalisations and deaths are quite low. We also have a new wave in Europe or new variants and life just goes on without any measures.

  2. It’s endemic. Nothing that has been done or can be done will make any difference. This is pointless.

  3. Just a couple of weeks ago, overseas flight crews arriving in Haneda were finally allowed to leave their hotels during the layover after a 2.5 year lockdown mandate.

  4. Do they honestly expect to be able to keep numbers low forever? At what point are they gonna realize covid is here to stay?

  5. Just let us in.

I’ve tried getting hired, been told ‘no’, because there’s too much trickle effect from the past 3 years of applicants overseas. I’ve waited patiently to restart the career that was ripped away from me at the last second right before I graduated college, but time I’d running out.

If I can’t come back to Japan and work in Japan and escape the shithole that is the US, then I may as well just do nothing at all. I spent a DECADE towards my career and now all I hear is ‘no’.

…I do realize tourism and work are different, but if I won’t be hired anytime soon due to backlog and ‘other’ factors, I at least want to be back for a vacation. Come on.

Wow ok all the downvotes only make it clearer to me that I’m going back to Japan whether y’all like it or not. I didn’t spend my life trying to do this for other people to ruin everything

  6. Dang I have flights booked for October… fingers crossed Japanese government can come to their senses about tourism.
