I am in the planning phase with consideration of moving to Japan, possibly the outskirts of Tokyo.
I understand it is going to be very expensive, but I very much would like to own my car in Japan and take it to cruise everywhere I can. It has been a dream of mine ever since I was a kid and I would like to accomplish it.
The model of my car is a 718 cayman GTS 2023, it is very small compared to most cars, but front end is lower than a 911 stock. Has anyone here imported their Porsche to Japan? What are the inspections to be expected? I know so far import taxes are about 10% of purchase price. So, I wonder if total sums up would be less than 3 million yen?
I understand if these questions are better consulting a law firm in Japan specializing in these types of things, which I plan on doing after finishing some other preparation stages over the next 2 years. I just wonder if anyone here happened to have done it before 🙂
