Kyushu day trip suggestions from Fukuoka?

Hello!

I will be in Kyushu for 5 days next month. Two days will be in spent in Beppu/Yufuin, and I’ll have three more days after that based in Fukuoka. I will probably only spend one of those days and the evenings in Fukuoka city, so I’m eager to figure out some great day trip options for the other two days.

Anywhere peaceful/nature oriented is ideal. Last time I was in Japan, my favourite part was the days I spent in Fujikawaguchiko, for example. Two places I’ve heard about that could be options are Yanagawa, and the Kawauchi Fujien wisteria tunnel.

What you would suggest? Thanks in advance!
