Just checked my email and was pleasantly surprised by an interview offer from JET.
Is anyone else from Vancouver (BC, Canada) interviewing? I’m a little concerned because the notification mentions that the interview will be on “February 7 to 9, inclusive,” but I just started a new job this month.
If I understand the provincial laws correctly, I have 3 days of unpaid leave, and I’m worried that the JET interviews will use them all up. I have other planned, unavoidable absences later in February and March, too, so I’m feeling a bit conflicted. I’ve messaged the Vancouver JET office and my employer, and am waiting to hear back from both.
The job isn’t all that, and certainly not in my field, but it’s a good change of pace and I’m enjoying the learning process and my coworkers, so I’m hoping I can transition into part-time hourly for a while before going back to full-time. But if JET works out, I would happily go to Japan for a year.
