Yeah the yen is having a fire sale
And this is still with mainland Chinese visitors down 75% from pre Covid highs
I recall when some were bullish JPY on the idea of return of tourism… ooof
yeah, it sucks
My parents visited us during the beginning of April and yeah, it was noticeable here in Nara and even in Takayama, Gifu. We did our best to avoid the crowds by showing up as early as possible in some places but man, busy.
Double that number by 2030 to reach the government’s target. Tokyo and Osaka will become as unlivable as Kyoto
Eh ill wait until their economy gets better and everything costs more
Good for Japan.
Redditors are crying because they had to see a white person on their way to work, but japan benefits greatly from tourism.
Yet every time I go around November I rarely see any foreigners.
I see a ton of local tourists tho.
Like 95% of the tourists I saw in my visits were all from Japan… That’s at the touristy places.
They should quit offering duty free and collect sales tax from these people too
Non-behaving foreign tourists that think ‘etiquette’ doesn’t apply to them (not all, but a lot), which also reflects badly on foreigners living in Japan to a certain extent because a lot of Japanese ‘think ‘all foreigners are somehow the same.’ Visible overtourism in certain areas. Foreigners buying up properties in tourist sites for holiday homes or AirBNBs driving up property cost and everyday living expenses for locals etc etc.
Disgusting.
I admit I was one of those 3 mil people 😖
It’s the cheap yen.
HongKonger love visiting Japan
All for the inaccurate sakura predictions most likely
Go Japan. Nothing beats simping for Japanese girls
Yen at all time lows will do that for a country.
Well… it’s March/April hanami season and the yen is low. Not a shocker tbh.
I can feel it, and it seems to be a shit load of Europeans. I’ve heard more French in the last two months than in my entire life.
PHILIPPINES.
Please accept us as your brothers
I visited last month. Yeah the yen is cheap. But ticket prices were really low as well. Was less £450 from london to narita or osaka.
