Anki buttons question

I watched Livakivi’s video on him learning Japanese for 3 years.

In the video he stated that the general consensus is that one should only use the ‘again’ or ‘good’ buttons in Anki, and not the ‘hard’ and ‘easy’ buttons.

Could someone explain why this is? What is wrong with using the ‘hard’ button?

  2. You’ve got three options that either lower a card’s ease (Again, Hard) or do nothing (Good), but only one that raises it (Easy). Unless you’re consistently rating almost all of your reviews as Easy, you’ll eventually end up with cards that you see all the time because they’re more or less permanently stuck on super low review intervals.
