Hello!
My friends and I were planning to do a big 21 day trip in Japan during January – February 2025, which spans from Fukuoka all the way to Tokyo. We plan on starting at Fukuoka and going to nearby places such as Nagasaki and making our way up to Osaka and Kyoto also visiting nearby places such as Nara, Koyasan and Kobe. We then plan to make our way to Niigata and finish off in Tokyo and its nearby cities.
I was just wondering if it was worth getting the JR rail pass (21 days) or buying tickets when we are there. Also is it worth buying IC cards? and does the JR rail pass cover like the local areas in Osaka (for example) or is that apart of the metro/subway line?
