Budget traveller (me) travelling with non-budget travellers – hotel ideas?

So after having some major (definitely very major) surgery earlier this year, I’m treating myself to a trip in September. My sister and bro-in-law are coming along. I’m under some financial constraints (being a sick person is expensive and I still have appointments coming up), so I’m looking for hotels in Roppongi and Shinjuku, as well as Kyoto and Karuizawa, at 15000Y or under.

Thing is, in Shinjuku, the fam will want a suite – we’re staying there the longest so they prefer to have some space. I found hotels that suit me (hell, I’d be happy with a capsule haha) but struggling to find anything affordable for me, that also offers suite options for them. Any ideas?

They also want to stay at a ryokan in Karuizawa, no way I can afford that, and as I understand, many don’t take solo travellers. I’m not sure whether to skip it altogether and spend extra time in Kyoto, or just get something cheap and enjoy a hike?

Also, please no hate around the financial stuff. Like, for real, I got eviscerated once for suggesting I use my emergency savings on a trip, but I’ve had brain surgery twice now. I can earn the money back. Chill my dudes.
