Question about 28-Hour Work Limit and YouTube Income in Japan

Hi everyone,

I’m currently a student in Japan and I have a question regarding the 28-hour-per-week work limit and income from my YouTube channel. Here’s the scenario:

I’m a student with a student visa, and I’m allowed to work up to 28 hours per week during designated periods. During my free time, I create videos for my YouTube channel as a hobby. Recently, my channel has started generating income through advertisements and sponsorships, and I’ve earned about $100 from it.

My concern is twofold:

Does the income generated from my YouTube channel count as work hours under the 28-hour limit? Even if I don’t withdraw or use the money, does it still affect my visa status?

After I finish school and transition to a different visa status, can I withdraw and use the money earned from my YouTube channel, even if it was generated during my time as a student with the 28-hour work limit?

I wanted to get some insights from the Reddit community as well. Any advice or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
