I’m planning on leaving Japan in the beginning of August. I know I have to pay my residence tax and my health insurance for the year. Unfortunately and kind surprisingly, I’m leaving because I am seriously struggling financially over here due to my health. I know I will not be able to pay these bills. I’m hardly able to afford going home and saving the little amount I can for the months I may be unemployed within such a short time frame. I’m just wondering if not paying these bills will affect my pension refund? I’m really relying on that to help me get my life a little together and start to get back on my feet as I figure out my health. Another thing to add, I don’t believe I will be back to Japan for work anytime soon. Maybe for travel but again that wont be possible for the next few years at least.
