Hello everyone
my boyfriend and I are going to Japan in the beginning of May. I know that there will be golden week the first days and everyones advice is to book the shinkansen tickets asap. Our itinerary will be:
Tokyo 05/01 – 05/05 – Fujiyoshida 05/07-05/07 – Kyoto 05/07-05/11 – and lastly Osaka
Now I had a look at how to get to Kyoto from Fujiyoshida and it seems like we’ll have to travel back to Tokyo and then take the Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen to Kyoto. But I find it difficult to find out where to book my tickets. I saw that you can get the tickets on smart-ex but they kinda want my credit card data and passport number in order to register. Is there a reason for this?
Now my boyfriend just wants to get the tickets in Tokyo on the first or second day of our stay but I’m worried that we won’t get a seat as it’ll be the end of golden week.
What is your advice? Get the tickets beforehand online or get them 5 days before travelling in Tokyo?
