I’m looking for a restaurant I visited in Tokyo in 2004. I mentioned tempura to my hosts and they found this delightful special tempura where the chefs showed off his imported salt rock. It was in a high rise and the seating was on tatami mats at floor level, except the counter where the foot area was recessed down into the floor. I’m attaching some pictures.
I *think* I remember the restaurant being nearish our hotel, which I *think* was in shinjuku, but it was 20 years ago and it was a whirlwind of a trip so I’m honestly not sure.
