My school have been promising since September that if I don’t get a job then they can help me get the job hunting visa. In December I decided to apply for a PhD but didn’t get in so it was back to the job hunting grind once I passed N2. Graduation was March 15. School says yeah we can give you the letter of recommendation after graduation. I’m like what about the supporting documents from the school about job hunting? Can you make sure that’s ok? Yes, they said, I checked with the other staff and they said it’s fine, come and do the form to get the paperwork.
As soon as it’s handed to the guy in charge he says no we’re not qualified to do job hunting visas and job hunting support actually.
So they’re like. Yeah we can’t help you. Just get a job by the end of the month. And this was yesterday so…that’s Sunday. The follow up advice from today was just get a job before it expires!
My student visa expires early May. I have interviews next week. I’m waiting on results from interviews I did this week. And obviously if you call immigration and ask questions they’re like you need to change your visa ASAP or go home.
So I dunno, I’m like. Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Will I magically get in trouble 9am Monday morning? If I work my part time jobs for the next week will it cause problems? I don’t want to go back to my country. How long do I really have? Will it cause problems if say for example I get offered a job in two weeks time and go to change my visa?
Any input appreciated. I’m so stressed about this entire ordeal right now.
