I get i’m probably in the very small minority but, I think we should wait a little bit before immediately calling this shit booking. Is it confusing, dumb, mindboggling booking? Yes. But: Moxley is a massive draw for America and Japan and don’t forget he was in New Japan before AEW.
Maybe people are right to be outraged but you gotta remember Moxley is a fantastic wrestler and I feel like he respects the company enough to be around regularly and Tony Khan would absolutely allow him too. I think we should all give this a chance but it’s completely understandable if you hate this decision especially because they could’ve just put the damn belt on Tsuji.
Also, this makes it so when Tsuji beats Moxley for the title and “saves” New Japan, it feels so so sweet and instantly propels him into megastardom.
