This pass seems like a good deal for us residents to use when traveling in the tohoku region. My question is though, how do we use it for using the shinkansen? Do you just show them the pass at the gate or do you have to get a reserved seat in advanced? What about normal local JR trains? I want to use this in the summer, and i still have time to figure it out, but its better to find out ahead of time i say. What has been your experience with it? I just dont want to get to the last shinkansen and then be hit with the fact that i needed to reserve a seat anyways and that im going to miss the train. I want to avoid a situation like that in the future. any and all advice regarding the use of these JR passes would be helpful.
