Easiest anime available on Netflix Japan?

What are some of the easiest anime available on Netflix Japan? I’ve tried Doraemon but it’s still a tad difficult for me.

  1. There won’t be anything much easier than Doraemon. Perhaps Shinchan.

Not terribly inclined to sit through children’s anime to find out what’s easiest, but general advice is to just study another week or two, or accept that not everything will make sense.

The language level is also not the only factor but also how strongly the dialogue is reflected visually on screen should be taken into consideration.

  2. I’d say anything that you are willing to watch a number of times without getting bored.

For example, I don’t know what region you are in, but all the Ghibli films are on Netflix where I am. I’m happy to watch them repeatedly.

If you watch something that you are familiar with, you can focus on input that is easier to pick up because you already have contextual knowledge of what is being said.

  3. Idk if you live in Japan, or you’re using a VPN for Netflix JP, but if you somehow have access the US, Hello Kitty on HiDive is pretty simple, and as an adult man I still enjoy the series.

  4. kimi ni todoke is one of the first anime i watched in japanese on netflix japan so i would recommend that! the only thing i watched before that was cardcaptor sakura on animelon. i really think shojo / slice of life is the best starting point, way closer to beginner/textbook japanese than something like doraemon imo

  5. You can get the suggestions here and download any anime from Nyaa rather than using Netflix.

  6. Imo karakai jouzu Takagi san is really easy even for n4 learners. If you do not understand things at this level, I’d recommend listening to n5 and n4 podcasts until you’re comfortable ( if that’s your thing, you can always choose to power through anime and sentence mine , but keep in mind this is very draining)

  7. sazae-san is about as down to earth with vocab and slow and steadily paced as you’ll get

the issue is that anime is aimed for natives. including children, who are still native and fluent. you can’t find anything aimed for non-native non-fluent people because such things don’t exist

either work with material aimed at learners, or accept that native work will be extremely challenging and take your time going through native material much more slowly and carefully, it won’t become a relaxed experience for a very long time; you can’t just anime your way to fluency

  8. Monster is really good!
They use daily and functional Japanese without a whole lot of anime slang. It’s kind of difficult for absolute beginners. So I would suggest shadowing each sentence at the start.

  9. My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog. It’s a very memorable anime, perfect for learning Japanese.

  10. I wouldn’t exactly call Doraemon simple, Kind of higher kindergarten / lower elementary school level.

Some really easy picks would be Chiikawa, Peppa Pig in Japanese, or Sumikko gurashi.
