Me and my partner are going to Japan in early November, wanted to get opinions on our itinerary that we’ve come up with since it’s quite uncommon I think, we’re concerned especially with the amount of time spent travelling and having to move from place to place
* Day 1: Arrive Tokyo NRT
* Get Suica/Pasmo
* Set up SIM –
* Narita Express to Tokyo/hotel around Ueno
* Day 2: Eastern Tokyo
* Senso-ji Temple
* Nakamise Shopping Street
* Ueno Park
* Ameya-Yokocho Market
* Day 3: Central Tokyo
* Meiji Shrine
* Yoyogi park
* Takeshita Street
* Day 4: Iwate – Hiraizumi & Morioka
* Leave early take train to Hiraizumi
* bike to chusonji temple
* bike to motsuji temple
* Continue with the shinkansen to check in hotel in Morioka
* Day 5: Iwate – Morioka
* Visit Nambu Tekki shops
* Visit the bank
* Eat jajamen
* Hachimangu shrine
* Nanshoso mansion
* Day 6: Iwate – Sanriku Coast
* Visit the morning market
* Then take the train to Miyako City. Eat lunch
* Rent a car and drive north along the coast from Jodogahama to Kitayamazaki
* Return the car and take the train back to morioka
* Day 7: Akita – Hachimantai
* Take the Shinkansen to Tawazako station and stay at a ryokan in Nyuto onsen
* sightsee around the lake and the town and chill in the ryokan and onsens
* **Day 8: Yamagata – Tsuruoka — This is the part I’m not sure about**
* Take the Akita shinkansen to Akita and transfer to the limited express to Sakata station (the thing is, I understand this is quite a sensitive transfer. It can take as little as 2h47m or if we miss the limited express and take the local it can take 3h40m
* Rent a car in Sakata
* Visit a maiko performance
* Visit Kaikoji temple (self mummified monks)
* drive to Tsuruoka hotel
* Day 9: Yamagata – Tsuruoka
* photography museum,
* medusa museum
* food supplier store
* maybe onsen? chill day in tsuruoka after a lot of travelling the day before
* Day 10: Yamagata – Dewa Sanzan – Mount Haguro
* Drive to mount Haguro, make the climb,
* stay at a shukubo
* Day 11: Yamagata – farmhouse
* Drive 1h40m to a farmhouse, check in there
* Visit Ginzan Onsen
* Day 12: Yamagata – Zao
* Do farm work in the morning
* then leave for yamadera temple
* Drive to ryokan in Zao onsen
* Day 13 – Yamagata
* Enjoy large public bath in Zao
* Visit the ookama crater
* Continue by car to Fukushima city
* Day 14 – Fukushima
* Apple picking
* Drive to and explore Azuma Koufuji
* Drive to Takayu Onsen
* Day 15 – Fukushima
* Visit the 5 lakes and bandai mountain
* stay in a nearby ryokan
* Day 16 – Fukushima – Aizu-wakamatsu
* Visit the castle,
* tea park
* ceramics store
* Sake brewery
* Maybe visit Ouchijuku (?) we want to continue to nikko after so we thought to do it the next day before visitng nikko, see below
* Day 17 – Nikko
* Ouchijuku and travel to nikko, return car
* Visit nikko city / shrine
* Day 18 – Nikko
* Hike through the senjogahara marshland
* Day 19-22 – Tokyo –
* More days of tokyo, everything we haven’t had time for and shopping
