After getting married, my wife wanted to take one of my 2 last names which I was quite happy about. After going to the city hall, we couldn’t register her with one and we were force to add both last names to the family registry, since they told us that it was not possible.
After reading a few posts, I read that it is possible to register only one. Can my wife still change her name and take one last name only ?
How is the procedure to request this ?
We have been searching in japanese but cannot find a specific solution.
This would make her and my future-child’s life easier.
