こにちわ!My husband and I are taking our 2nd trip to Japan this October. We are planning on staying in Tokyo, Fuji, and Osaka.
For this trip we wanted recommendations for non-touristy areas to stay/sights to see. Also we will be relying on public transport and won’t be renting a car.
Our first trip we stayed in Tokyo and Kyoto and did all the tourist traps and we’re pretty disappointed at the crowded areas. Especially Arashiyama bamboo forest and other areas of Kyoto.
We mainly want suggestions on non-touristy areas to stay/visit with views of mt Fuji. And maybe in the outskirts of Osaka.
I’ve heard Hakone is absolutely crowded so we’re going to skip that, but if anyone knows an area with a similar aesthetic (in the water Tori gates and views) please let me know!
Thanks in advance!
Edit: a lot of you are asking why I’m going to Tokyo/Fuji/Osaka if I don’t want to go to touristy areas. I’m listing those areas because I wanted to know what’s near that’s not touristy.
My question is more so where can I stay in or near Fuji that isn’t a tourist trap and if there’s any areas outside of Osaka that we can take a day trip to.
Tokyo granted is busy and that’s fine! we actually love Tokyo so we’ll spend just a couple days there. But after that we want to go to an area to see Fuji, because our first trip was so rainy we didn’t see it once.
And we’re going to Osaka for just a few days (which I understand is touristy) because we didn’t get to stop by the first trip.
