I lived in Hokkaido for the past year on a working visa. I recently received an invoice which I believe was for a utility because when I translated it it said Hokkaido debt collection for a missed bill payment. Could’ve sworn it was for my electric company. Anyway, I tried to pay It at the convenience store last week but it was past the cycle date I guess. Didn’t know at the time that I could’ve still paid it at the bank or the ATM despite this—regardless, my address is no longer valid as I vacated yesterday, and my bank account has since been closed. I thought it was for my electricity bill but that’s been successfully closed and they said they have no record of anything like that. All other utilities have been closed as well. So I don’t know what it could be for…I leave the country in about 1.5 weeks. I’m in Sapporo now so if possible I’d like to walk in to an office of sorts and inquire about it… perhaps a credit check or debt agency? It was about ¥8000 which isn’t the biggest amount in the world, but I don’t want any future issues.
Side note: I threw the bill away after the payment at the convenience store failed. ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ dumb, I know.
Anyone have any advice as to where I should go?
(Sorry if this isn’t the most coherent post, and thanks in advance guys!)
