I have applied to a Japanese language school, and will receive my COE in about a month if approved. I’m not thrilled with the housing options provided through my school (they’re all share houses). I’ve looked at UR housing, and found a lot of places that are marked as available, and in my budget. I won’t have income as a student, but if I understand correctly, I can substitute income by prepaying 12 months rent. My understanding is that I cannot rent an apartment until I’ve acquired my zairyuu card, and it’d be a bad idea to rent sight unseen anyways. Is it realistic for me to rent an airbnb for my first 3 weeks in Japan, and find and move into a UR apartment within that time frame? I also don’t speak Japanese. Max budget is about 150k a month.
