16 Day First-Time Itinerary!

Hey! I’ve been lurking on this sub for a while now, and I’m finally going to Japan! With my partner in early September! It’ll both be our first time there! Any feedback or suggestions with this itinerary would be appreciated!

One thing I’m not sure about is how to time Yamato luggage delivering. Should I give the front desk of my hotel my luggage the night before checking out?

* Day 1
* Arrive in Haneda, Take Limousine Bus to Asakusa View, walk to ryokan & drop off luggage
* Explore Sensoji, nearby street food & vendors
* Go back to ryokan to check in, enjoy their in-house onsen
* Ask staff for dinner recommendations/circle back to place nearby that looked good
* Sensoji at night, Skytree if we have lots of energy somehow
* Day 2
* Possible ideas: Tsukiji Fish Market followed by a teamLab exhibition; Tokyo Skytree; Senzoku-Ike Autumn Festival
* Day 3
* Check out of hotel and drop of luggage at hotel near Shinjuku station
* Go to Yayoi Kusama Museum (we’re art history people)
* Check into Shinjuku hotel
* Explore Shinjuku? (Meiji Jingu?)
* Day 4
* Possibly go to Ghibli Museum (if tickets allow, if not go in latter half of trip) before going straight to
* Shibuya (spend all day there?)
* Day 5
* Check out of hotel and take train from Shinjuku Station to Hakone Yumoto
* Bus from Hakone Yumoto to hotel (20 min), drop off luggage
* Get lunch, possibly walk to Okada Museum of Art
* Check into hotel
* Enjoy hotel’s onsen and maybe go on a walk
* Hotel buffet dinner
* Day 6
* Hotel buffet breakfast
* If weather permits (if not, just go to Yunessun):
* Take bus to Hakone Bay Boat Pier
* Take sightseeing cruise to Togendai ropeway station
* Take ropeway to Owakudani, enjoy views, take ropeway to Gora
* Get food if hungry, walk and check out Open-Air Museum if feeling up to it, could just rest in Gora Park before walking straight back
* Walk back to hotel, end day with onsen and dinner
* Day 7
* Check out and take train to Osaka, drop bags off at hotel and just explore (Dotonbori for sure)
* Day 8
* Nintendo Land (Universal Studios)
* Day 9-10
* Open for whatever (possible Nara day trip)
* (Umeda Sky Building? Ringram ring-making, Pokemon Center, nearby boat rides?)
* Day 11
* Take train to Kyoto, drop off luggage at a train station if possible, if not drop off luggage at hotel
* Food nearby, Fushimi Inari
* Check into hotel, which is close to Nishiki Market
* Explore Area (not sure where to go: Pontocho Alley? Yasaka Jinja Shrine? Hanamikoji? Kamo River?)
* Day 12:
* Eat at Nishiki Market before checking out and taking train to Tokyo (Hannamatsucho Station, near hotel)
* Check into hotel
* Day 13-15
* Free days (mostly being in shock that the trip’s almost over, savor favorite things or go to areas we missed)
* Day 16
* Get early morning cab to Haneda

Thank you for taking the time to read! It’s been great seeing folks here report back about their lovely trips!
