So I just tried my first coco ichibanya (idk what took me so long) and I ordered the handmade katsu curry. The pork itself was incredible, but the spice was intolerable. I’m not a big fan of spicy food but I’ve had Indian, Nepali and Arab food with medium heat and all was good. Here I asked for the first level so I’m really surprised about just how intense it was, and mostly just pain not flavour.
I know it’s impossible to know for certain unless you were there with me, but is #1 usually pretty spicy or did the cook get it wrong?
