Hello travelers.

Family of four (13 and 12 year old children) travelling to Japan in late November. While we will be spending the majority of our time in Osaka, we would like to take an overnight or two to a mountain/rural area outside of Osaka. Would need to be accessible by public transit.
Ideally, I’d like to find a smaller town that would appreciate our tourism, but we can be relatively unobtrusive. Hike a little bit, do some photography, painting, eat local food, and stay at a ryokan maybe.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
