What are some things your JTEs do that make you feel appreciated and happy to work at your school?

I’m a licensed teacher at a private JHS/SHS. From next year we will get a new ALT and I’ve been tasked with supervising his development and helping him get settled. It got me thinking about what I (and my coworkers in the English department) could do to make him feel valued and more at home.

He’s lived in Japan and taught elsewhere so these wouldn’t be things like setting up bank accounds and getting a phone. I’m talking specifically about the job. What are some things your JTEs have done to make your job fulfilling?

Edited to say thank you to everyone for their comments. This is very helpful. I should have mentioned that I am and American who was on JET way back in the day. I still thought it would be helpful to get feedback from other past and current ALTs not that the shoe is on the other foot. Much appreciated!
