3 full days in Tokyo– want to just look at Mt. Fuji from a far– is this crazy?

We are going to be in Tokyo for 3 full days/4nights Aug 2nd to August 6th

I would love to just look at Mt. Fuji. Yes I want to feel like and say I’ve seen it. Makes me feel happy to look at beautiful things even if its for a few minutes. We are pretty high energy travelers and try to hit as many things as possible. We are just now getting into traveling and are kinda about testing areas out. So if it is super awesome, we’ll come back later in our lives and actually explore it in depth.

So is there anyway to just go look at Mt. Fuji views from afar without it eating a whole day? Can we do this unguided on our own? Obviously there is risk it will be a crap view– but we could check that days ahead and just ditch it if there is a way we can get there by ourselves last minute? Seems a waste to not pop over to one of the most famous mountains in the world.

We usually are more nature people, but we just kinda wanna hang out in Tokyo and see all the futuristic city stuff and go shopping for retro robot things, maybe go to Naruto land one day, visit the garden or a temple etc.
