JP Bank account blocked

Hello,

I’ve been on a work visa since August. Before that, I was a student. I paid my insurance every month, but when I became a company employee, HR asked me to stop paying my old insurance. Of course, I received reminders, but I was told to ignore it.

This morning, my bank account (JP post) was blocked. When I asked at the counter, I was told it was because of unpaid insurance. The amount of my bank balance was intact, I wasn’t charged. But since I’ve been paying my insurance and taxes out of my salary for the past 9 months, I didn’t understand where this could have come from.

I went to the city hall to solve the problem. I had to show my new insurance card (from the company) in order to cancel my previous one. I had no idea. So it’s been 9 months that my old insurance has been waiting for me to pay. The woman at the city hall sorted out my situation: since I’ve been insured with my company since August and paid all my bills before that, I don’t need to pay anything.

However, my bank account remains blocked. Do you have any idea how long this could take? Have you had a similar experience? At the city hall, no one was able to tell me how long it would take. Should I go back to JP Bank and ask about it ?

Thank you in advance !
