The backstage comments did their things like usual, setting up some future title matches and that kind of thing, but by far the most interesting thing was backstage comments for the Junior Tag Titles match.
In Catch 2/2’s interview, Akira offers up the usual platitudes, and before TJP can speak, O-Khan comes storming in, with Newman trying to calm him down. Here’s what O-Khan says.
*”TJ, Akira… What the hell is this?!*
*You call yourself captain, but this is the result you get?! When we conceived this faction with Ospreay, it was a team of equals! Knights of the Round Table. Then you declared yourself the captain.*
*New Japan Cup, we were all out in the first round. Now, failure here in Ryogoku. This is what the United Empire has become.*
**O-Khan shakes his head in exasperation*\*
*If you continue to call yourself the captain, we will no longer offer our support. If you want to take the helm, bring us some deserved treasure. Otherwise, we won’t recognise you. Understand?”*
TJP’s response to this is to say “Yeah…” then look at the camera and give a firm “Yes.”
People have wondered if the United Empire’s current struggles/TJP’s leadership claims were going to go anywhere, so it’s an interesting development.
