Hey all! For those of you in Tokyo, I have a few questions about childcare. I know it varies by ward but I’d like a vague idea so I know where to start. If anyone’s knows the answers to these question I’d appreciate it. Even just in your own experience would be great.
How far in advance is it needed to apply?
Do you need to be in country to do so? (If so, how far in advance do you need to be in country?)
Anything else I should know?
The kid would be between 12 and 18 months old at the time of starting. And would be entering daycare summer/fall 2025.
I read my ward’s pages on childcare but could not really find an answer to this. I know there’s public vs private. I honestly done mind either but finances are a concern.
I’m going to be a single mother so I’m trying to get all this figured out before the baby comes. So I’m not scrambling when I need to go back to work after my leave.
