I moved to Japan a month ago for company training and will be here for the next 5 months.
I was provided by the company an SMBC bank account with IC Cash Card (so no debit/credit card for online payments).
Because I wanted a way to do online transactions using my SMBC account, I applied for an Olive account. So, through the SMBC app, I pressed the “Apply for Olive Account (Open an account)” button on the home page that displays when you open the app. I finished the application through there, applying for the lowest rank.
My co-workers, who arrived with me and finished applying for an Olive account, told me that a virtual card should be instantly accessible right when you finish the application. But I told them that I couldn’t access it nor see the option on my dashboard.
When I tried to link my bank account to my SMBC ID (email is same as provided bank account), which was created during the Olive account application process, it said that the SMBC ID email provided was already linked to another bank account.
So, I tried logging in through my SMBC ID, and it said I have to wait until the account opening is completed.
Apparently, there is also an Olive application button AFTER log-in which shows similar steps to the application I did. That is the one my co-workers pressed for their application. At this point, I think I may have pressed the wrong button for the Olive account application.
So now, I’m waiting for the application documents to arrive at my address for what I think is a brand new savings account which I did not intend. I just wanted to open an Olive account for my current account which was already provided by the company.
Because of the holidays, I assume this application process is pending until the holidays are over.
My questions are:
1. Is there a way to cancel this application so I can redo it properly (linked to my bank account)?
2. While the application process is ongoing, can I apply for an Olive account, but this time using the application button AFTER log-in so that it’s already linked to my bank account? Or do I have to wait until this current application process finishes?
3. Is there anything else I can do?
Thank you very much for your time. Kindly let me know about any unclear details.

Update: I looked through SMBC’s FAQ and was pleasantly surprised to find instructions regarding this exact situation. I have to wait for the card to arrive, and then I can cancel. Thank you to everyone for your advice.
