SOR Question: Is it possible to switch from Student Visa (3 years) to PR (married with Japanese)?

Hi people of japanlife,
I am currently a MEXT scholar (PhD of three years just started after Master graduation) with a Student visa of three years. Two years ago I got married with a Japanese national and we now have a beautiful daughter. Just please don’t ask me how we are managing to live on 148000 yen monthly, but we are able to survive for now thanks to the countryside and family 🙂
I was wondering, when i eventually finish my PhD in march 2027 (if everything goes well), if it is possible to switch directly to PR, as i will cover the 3+ years of marriage and 1 year of residence. I read somewhere that it is possible as the 3 or 5 year student visa is good enough, but i cannot find more info on this particular case.
Thank you for your help!

Edit: Update: After talking to immigration it is possible to apply, but the hurdle of the income is still there apparently, so the chance of getting it might be low. For reference, if the partner (the Japanese national) works, then there should be no problem (my family is a small one-horse carriage unfortunately). Thanks to everyone for your advice!
