Confusion around getting to Kanazawa from Kyoto using the Hokoriku One-Way Ticket

So from here [https://www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/pass/one\_way/hokuriku/](https://www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/pass/one_way/hokuriku/)

It seems that a ticket costs 6500 yen from Kyoto -> Kanazawa for a one-way trip. This ticket covers the thunderbird part from Kyoto to Tsuruga and the shinkansen part from Tsuruga to Kanazawa. It replaces the old thunderbid one-way ticket [https://www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/pass/one\_way/thunderbird/](https://www.westjr.co.jp/global/en/ticket/pass/one_way/thunderbird/)

If I try to book my tickets through navitime, it gives me a cost of \~14,000 yen [https://japantravel.navitime.com/en/booking/jr/search/?departure=00001756&arrival=00001888&date=20240517&time=06&cid=japantravel.web.route](https://japantravel.navitime.com/en/booking/jr/search/?departure=00001756&arrival=00001888&date=20240517&time=06&cid=japantravel.web.route)

So almost double that of the one-way trip.

So ideally I’d like to purchase the one-way ticket for tourists instead of booking through navitime. This is where I’m confused because I’m not sure where to purchase this one-way ticket from. It says it’s available from “select overseas travel agencies” (klook?) – but I’m not sure really how to start looking for these agencies.

On Klook I found this [https://www.klook.com/en-CA/activity/35522-jr-thunderbird-express-one-way-osaka-kyoto-toyama-fukui-kanazawa/](https://www.klook.com/en-CA/activity/35522-jr-thunderbird-express-one-way-osaka-kyoto-toyama-fukui-kanazawa/) but I’m not sure after the railway change if this is still valid. I’m concerned that by buying this I’ll get a voucher that’s only valid for the one-way thunderbird ticket from Kyoto to Tsuruga. The description makes no mention of giving a ticket for the Hokuriku Shinkansen and the graphic also seems to be outdated with a direct Thunderbird line from Kyoto to Kanazawa. On the Hokuriku one-way ticket page, there’s a notice that says “Passengers who purchased THUNDERBIRD one-way tickets before March 16, 2024, can still use them in the same way as Hokuriku one-way tickets during the product validity period.” so if I were to purchase these outdated tickets after March 16, I’m afraid that JR would maybe not homor them.

So what do I do? Purchasing the ticket for double the price on navi-time would be my last resort. I would like help finding a hokuriku one-way ticket or confirmation if JR would honor the klook ticket.
