Traveling for food: My weirdest (at first) Japan experience

Travelling for food is a huge part of Japanese culture, and it was something I totally didn’t understand when I first arrived. My mother-in-law once drove 3 hours just to get special spring onions for dinner!

I’ve lived in Japan for 6 years without going back to the UK, and this is one of the biggest ways Japanese culture has changed me. People back home would never imagine travelling for food! It’s even been the catalyst towards starting a whole YouTube channel.

What are some of the big influences Japan has had on you?
