I came to Japan 2 years ago hoping to live a new exciting life full of opportunities, and applied to study 2 years at a Japanese Language School, now I’ve enrolled myself into a Japanese course at a local University here studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and I hate it here.
I’m super interested in the subject, but I find myself going on my laptop and translating everything online, instead of listening to class (Because I can’t understand).
I know a degree in IT from a Japanese University isn’t the greatest. I’ve been thinking and realized that instead of working here after graduation, I’d rather have more of an international environment, because I speak 4 languages, and would love to work around the world. Japanese companies love hiring Japanese people anyways, so I don’t stand a chance against them in the first place.
I’m not great with words, but the bottom line is that I think I’d rather study these subjects in English instead and have more of immersed approach at University. I’m not from the US, but I’m thinking of maybe pursuing a career there or in other western countries, from Japan. But I’m not sure whether it’s a good choice either.
So right now I’m kinda having a early mid-life crisis where I regret the decision I made and I’m looking for advice, from people who’ve been in my current position in the past, or people who have a broader perspective on the situation.
p.s. I do feel like I haven’t elaborated enough or haven’t given enough context to my current situation and my background so please don’t hesitate to ask.
