Tall People: I Have a Question About Chopsticks

**EDIT**: so the consensus is hand size doesn’t affect chopstick use, so it is quite possible sumo wrestlers do indeed use normal chopsticks. However, it has also been brought up that both sumo size and lady size chopsticks exist.

Thank you everyone that answered my question!

Dear tall people and people generally larger than the Japanese average: do you ever find normal sized chopsticks uncomfortable to use?

Personally, I find the “woman sized” chopsticks to make my hands cramp sometimes, so I was wondering if the same happened to tall people using normal chopsticks, or if normal chopsticks are somehow the magic length of working for everyone.

I ask this because I’m dying to know if sumo wrestlers use extra long chopsticks like cooking chopsticks or special sumo chopsticks. Have you seen their handprints in the station? Absolutely massive. It’s hard to find a sumo wrestler to ask stupid questions but tall people exist and probably have the same issue. Reasonably speaking, normal chopsticks will be like kid sized chopsticks to a sumo wrestler right? However, when seen on TV, sumo wrestlers seem to use normal chopsticks but they are also in front of a camera so I don’t entirely believe they are using normal chopsticks day to day. Like if your hands are that big, wouldn’t cooking chopsticks be easier to eat with? It just looks bad so you wouldn’t do it in front of a camera. Even I can eat using cooking chopsticks quite easily, and I’m nowhere near sumo wrestler sized.

Does anyone know the answer to my sumo wrestler and chopstick question or have some insight on using chopsticks as a larger than the Japanese average person?
