Hello everyone.
Background Context: Previously Army, stayed in Okinawa with residence card, moved back to America for work, wife got a US visa, now have 2 boys. Culture wise, locations of places, things to do… I’m ok with all of that information. I have started the research to answer most of these questions, but if there is a roadmap or experience, it would save time.
Bulk: I am interviewing for a position this week, that would take my family and I back to Okinawa. 99.9% sure it is a SOFA position. (everything says it is, but that word wasn’t mentioned in the first interview) I’m sure the turn-around time to selling everything stateside and moving is not going to be long or drawn out, so I’m just looking for advice from those that have done the same thing.
Likely, we will sell the majority of items we have. House/Vehicles/Furniture/etc. Ship essentials like clothes/baby stuff (youngest is 7 months) video games (oldest is 7 years).
Has anyone else had this situation, with the wife having a US Visa?
Did you use a company to ship items to Okinawa?
Finale: Even if I am not selected for this position, I am adamant about moving back to Okinawa. So having my ducks in a row before the acceptance of a position is purely upside.
Any help, advice, Go F\*’s, or izakaya invitations are welcome.
