Why would people want to get a regular job with shit hours and shit pay?
I wonder if the knife attacks in trains last year during summer had something to do with it too and it’s not only about an increase in other sorts of crime. I personally didn’t feel more unsafe but my Japanese husband who commutes to work every day definitely was scared.
The media and public obsess over knife attacks, of which there have been a few, sure. It’s still relatively rare however.
But one level of danger has seriously increased:
*reckless driving*
….and as usual, the government mostly responds with the most rudimentary “slap on the wrists” type law changes which effectively do nothing to address the underlying causes.
