Hi all,
Maybe this is a question beyond r/movingtojapan can help with, but I figured I’d ask.
I’m looking to move to Japan within the next year from the US. I’m currently in the US and seeking a career change as my current career doesn’t really exist in Japan. I’m also looking for a more flexible role anyways. As someone past their 20’s, I feel that English teaching might pay too little/too high stress/not leading to future so that is not something I’m interested in.
I always see things like “find a company with a presence in Japan and ask to transfer” or “just move and find a job” but those suggestions are so broad and overwhelming. Or look on GaijinPot but all I see are English jobs. I’m trying to narrow down a career and get experience so I have something to do in Japan that is good for foreigners.
Visa/residency is a non-issue and I could technically move anytime. I’m just trying to take advantage of my time here (in the US) to set me up for success.
So what are some career paths that people do that they’re doing when they move to Japan? How can I narrow my potential new careers to something doable in Japan?
