Hi all, I’ve lived in Japan for 4 years as a service member, I also got married to a woman there who lived in japan her whole life, her father is Japanese and most of her family is Japanese, however she and her mom are fillipino and she happened to be born in the Philippines at the time of her birth, with her dad being Japanese, they moved back to Japan after her birth. But nonetheless she still has long term residency. We have been back in the U.S. for less than a year and honestly, both of us want to move on back.
If we move back, she’ll have her residency of course and is planning on becoming a Japanese citizen since she has no ties to the Philippines other than just being born there.
But she said her dad can sponsor me in on a family visa most likely. (If anyone has any advice or experience they can shine a light on this subject, please enlighten me.)
I was thinking about what to do for work is my biggest question here.
I have some Japanese language speaking and reading skills. I’m not the best with large spoken responses but can comprehend quite a bit and have a little conversonal level speaking ability.
I am still learning bit by bit everyday through what my wife teaches me in hopes of being better.
But as to jobs, I’m really wanting to come back, but also want to be a legitimate support to my wife and child. I’m pretty good with my hands, good at auto mechanics, I have some IT knowledge from the Military, I want to get a Japanese license and believe I can pass, I’d be willing to drive vehicles of some kind for work.
Sadly I have no college degrees which may be a set back and no certifications. I’m willing to work towards something for work, but this is more of a what to do in Japan in case I move there before a degree or certification.
But out of it all, I don’t know where to start, what I could do, but want to move back and start a life there. Any advice? (:
