In a couple of months we will have the G1 Climax. The most notorious tournament in wrestling that you can expect top quality. For the past couple years the G1 hadn’t felt as special as it was before the pandemic. Obviously covid and no fans cheering really killed the excitement around it. But also the lack of fresh matches and the unnecessary amount of people in it.
For the past 2 years we had a large amount of participants and both G1s IMO at multiple times felt like filler or just too much. Last year showed that you can have 4 blocks of a tournament and all be strong. A&B blocks last year felt important because of the young talent and the certain rivalries that got reopened. However with C& D block both of them lacked a lot of excitement and importance.
With so many talent no longer in the company and the lack of top guys. Now is the best time to have the G1 go back to 2 blocks. If the company really wants to showcase that the young talent are the future and some guys who have been ready for a while to elevated the G1 is the time to have them go out and sink or swim in the G1.
