Moving to Tokyo in September and looking for advise on apartment rent

Hi all,

I have decided to embark on a new adventure and have managed to get a job in Tokyo starting in September. I am thrilled, terrified but excited to move!

I am looking for some advise on finding apartments:

* My job will pay about 14M yen a year which after tax I guess would be 10M yen so I am thinking my expected max budget for an apartment would be 250/300k yen a month (my plan is to enjoy the adventure and okay not saving too much money), is that a realistic number given my income and still be able to enjoy going out occasionally for dinners and drinks ?
* My office will be based in Chiyoda City, close to Jimbocho station and would like to cycle to the office in under 30 minutes.
* What areas would you recommend (preferably with nice bars, restaurants but not too crowded) ?
* Looking at apartment sites, I have seen a lot already with fairly standard apartments but would prefer something different (high ceilings, or nice big windows that let in a lot of light). Any specific apartments sites which would help? Would getting an agent be of any use?

Many thanks for any advise to the above!
