Hey guys,
I would like to have advice and your opinion on a very important matter in my life.
I would like to work and live in Japan with my girlfriend, but I don’t know if I will be able to find a job here.
So, a bit of context in my life would be useful for you to understand my situation.
I am Belgian. I finished my studies last January in Belgium. I graduated with a Master’s in business management (5 years of study).
After my studies, I decided to come to Japan to study Japanese language at a language school for 6 months. I started the school in February, and I will finish it in July.
At the end of July, I will have to go back to Belgium since my visa will expire. My motivation for coming to Japan was mostly to have fun before starting to work in Belgium. But also, to a lesser extent, to learn the Japanese language to be able to live and work here someday in the near future.
However, things have changed, and during my stay here, I found my girlfriend, with whom I am really in love. I also totally fell in love with Tokyo and Japan.
So now, I would like to live and work here as soon as possible when my language school ends. The main reason is because I want to live with my girlfriend, and I don’t want to have a long-distance relationship. I don’t like or believe in long-distance relationships.
I know that the other possibility of her coming to work in Belgium would not be possible because she doesn’t speak French, Dutch, or even decent English.
So my plan would be to look and find a job that I could start as soon as my language school ends (or even before; I can stop my language school earlier). My level in Japanese is not great. I can only do really basic conversations. I am able to talk with my girlfriend in Japanese, but as soon as the conversation gets complicated, we use a translator. I would say that I am at the N4 level or something like that.
I would like a job related to my studies. I am pretty sure that it will be hard to find a job that matches my skills as a graduated Master’s student, but I’m okay with that. If the job is below the master level of expertise, it’s totally fine.
I speak English really well. Not perfectly, not like a native, but my writing, listening, and conversational skills are professional. I would not be able to do a job for which the main language is Japanese. I am still not good enough. English and French would be totally fine.
I think that’s pretty much all I can tell you to give you a bit of context.
So in that way, I have several questions:
1. Do you think it’s achievable for someone like me (with the information you have on me) to find a decent job in that short time?
2. Do you think in my domain of expertise (business: Finance, Marketing, HR, Production, Administration, Sustainability,…) I could find a decent job in which I would be able to speak French or English?
3. Are there some foreign companies that look for profiles like mine?
4. What platform do you advise me to use to look for a job?
Thanks in advance for your helps guys !
