Hey reddit,
My residence was extended for two months, but a few days ago, I went to my local Japan Post. I tried to send money to my own bank account in my country and got rejected because they don’t understand my situation nor do they understand the stamp on my resident card. They also stupidly requested to see my MyNumber card, but it’s also expired on the original date. They gave me a lot of unnecessary flak because of it.
When I went to the immigration bureau and they told me about the stamp, the person who helped me said it wouldn’t be a problem outside. If I were stopped by the police, for example, they would know my status. The bureau didn’t give me any documentation just in case for any other entities such as the post office though . . .
My city hall knows my situation, but they couldn’t help me or at least provide me with documentation that my residential status is correct.
What should I do???
Also, one last question, should I be worried about boarding a plane to travel around Japan? I have a trip coming up before my expiration date, and I’m just afraid the same scenario would occur at the airport because my card’s stamp is so ambiguous, so bimyou. I even wanted to get a JR pass (that foreign residents can use), but I’m afraid the same situation would occur too . . .
Tl;dr: My post office doesn’t know \*\*\*\* about 2-month extended resident cards and wouldn’t process an international wire transfer for me. ALSO, I’m worried I won’t be allowed to board a plane if staff wants to see my resident card.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I’m not going to renew my visa for employment. Once my card expires, I’m going back to my country.
