I’m going to be 1-2 years out of Japan and I would like to keep the phone number I have right now. As I won’t be in the country I want to keep it at the lowest possible cost. What would be my best option? From what I can see Rakuten gets as low as ¥1000/month. Is there anything better?

au povo 2.0, 0 yen per month, need 330 yen reload every 180 days (you can buy for example 24hours unlimited data pack). So maximum spending assuming 2 years out would be 330*4 = 1320 yen
My 1GB plan with HIS is 556 yen/month.
