Imodium-like medicine on Amazon Japan?

I need a medicine such as imodium but it doesn’t appear to exist in Japan. Do you know what would be the equivalent on Amazon Japan?

  1. diarrhea is called 下痢(げり・ケリ・geri) go to your local drugstore and head to that section and pick something up. I have no direct experience with these products so cannot recommend or attest to their efficacy.

  2. In Japan the go to thing is unfortunately a herbal remedy called Seirogan. One example :

    【第2類医薬品】正露丸クイックC 16カプセル https://amzn.asia/d/6s3E3KC

It does however work for me to a certain degree, so it may be worth trying. I used to use Imodium all the time back home and never found an equivalent effect here – they are just too low dosage…

  3. The active ingredient in Imodium AD is loperamide (ロペラミド) and [these are the hits for that on Amazon](https://www.amazon.co.jp/s?k=loperamide).

E: you might want to double check the other ingredients to make sure whatever you get isn’t a dual-acting product (“dual-acting” like Tylenol PM, which is acetaminophen (aka paracetamol) and diphenhydramine (brand name, Benadryl)).

  4. Seirogan is used for diarrhea and upset stomachs. Do yourself a favor and get the coated kind – otherwise it tastes like a campfire.

  5. You need to get a box of “Stopper” (no, I’m not kidding). ストッパ. But I don’t think you can get them on Amazon as it’ll need to be sold to you in the presence of a licensed pharmacist (no prescription needed though).
