As you all know, new graduate salaries in Japan are… dismally low. However, I was wondering if any of you have had experience with negotiating a higher salary as a new graduate? I do speak Japanese and I’m graduating from one of the “elite” universities in Japan. Since I don’t have any experience job hunting (in any country) I was wondering if it’s possible to leverage these things to negotiate a higher salary and/or other benefits (such as housing allowance) or if companies tend to only pay as advertised for new graduates.
