Hi guys, we are going to Japan from mid october to mid november for 31 days. I’m still relatively early in the planning stage but wanted to know if this is considered a good itinerary? Details per day will follow later, but still planning the big picture.
We are flexible and everything can be rearranged or added. Other interesting places to visit are also welcome. Thanks in advance!
**1 — Tokyo 7 days — Staying in Shinjuku (shin okubo)**
* *Is shinjuku (shin okubo) a good place for a first time stay?*
**2 — Nagano 1 day — Driving by car from shinjuku**
* Staying for 1 night
* Plan is to take our time driving and stopping at poi’s along the way
* Main reason to go to nagano is the snow monkey park
* *Any tips for driving along this road are very welcome*
**3 — Kanazawa 3 days – Driving by car from nagano**
* Considering a day trip from kanazawa to shirikawago village and surroundings
* *Shirikawago worth it? Anything else worth doing in the area?*
**4 — Osaka 8 days — By train. Our main hub for day trips in osaka/kyoto area**
* Staying in namba area
* Daytip to Nara
* Daytip to Koyasan
* Daytip to Kobe
* *What do you think about 5 full days in Osaka?*
**5 — Kyoto 4 days — By train**
* Staying in near shijo station (downtown kyoto)
* Mix of main attractions but also just exploring less crowded temples
* *Is 4 days a good amount for kyoto? I’m a bit hesitant of the big crowds I keep hearing about. (makes me not want to stay there for too long I guess)*
**6 — Hakone 1 day — By train**
* Staying in a ryokan for one day, not planning on doing much sightseeing that day
* Day after ryokan we are exploring hakone loop and then go to tokyo in evening
**7 — Tokyo 6 days — By train**
* Staying in Ginza – *good area for our second stay? Any recommendations are very welcome!*
* Planning on filling activities based on our experience in the first week. (depending on what we liked and didn’t)
