I’m starting to research about Working Holiday in Japan (from France), and something is bothering me.
You see, I’m a singer, and I’d like to be able to do some shows during my WH, but I saw on the Japan embassy in france website that :
>*In accordance with the provisions of the agreement, participants may not engage in activities that offend public decency (employment in bars, cabarets, nightclubs, gambling halls…).*
And on a PVTistes YT live, the host mentioned “entertainment jobs” as forbidden.
So I’m not at sure if getting paid for a show in bar-concert or livehouse (or whatever) is considered “contrary to morality/decency” or not.
(Having said that, it seems to me that there’s very little inhouse artists/scheduling on the part of the venues and that it’s rather the artists who pay a rental fee to the venue generally and get paid (when they can) with ticket sales and merch).
Of course, it wouldn’t be a main source of income (I’m thinking more of being an English teacher, for example), but it would be a shame if I couldn’t get up on stage with other artists and be paid (even meagerly).
I know that in France, any musician who performs on stage (or studio,…) is presumed to be a salaried, but I have no idea whether this is the case in Japan.
Do you have any answers to my questions? Any leads or ideas?
